Alan T. Barges, 64, met his Lord and Savior Friday, April 29, 2016, at Hershey Medical Center. He was born Saturday, June 16, 1951 in Chambersburg, the son of the late Thomas C. Barges and Alice J. (Lensbower) Wible. Alan attended St. Thomas High School. He was formerly employed as the manager of Heritage Highway Motors in Chambersburg for 17 years. He had also worked at Domestic Pump in Shippensburg. He played in the Liberators Band from 1967 to 1968, Soul Peddlers from 69-70, Quadations from 70-72, Red Wine from 72-75 and 80-85, Tequila Sunrise from 75-80, Night Train 85-93. He played all over south central Pennsylvania and northern Maryland. After playing in the bands, he and his wife started the Malachi Prison Ministry which they ministered from 1994-2007. He was involved in Civil War Re-enacting for many years. He was a former president and coach in the St. Thomas youth baseball league. Alan was an avid NASCAR fan and his favorite driver was Jeff Gordon. His Facebook posts will be missed by his many friends and followers. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Cynthia L. (Bard) Barges. He is also survived by one son, Gerry L.A. and wife Karen Barges of Saint Thomas; half-sisters, Cindy Lee Fogal of Chambersburg, Cathy Blacker of Chambersburg; half-brother, Harry Barges of St. Thomas; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. A Celebration of Alan's Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 6 at St. Thomas Assembly of God, 173 Rhondel Drive, St. Thomas, with Pastor AJ Hezlep officiating. A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 5 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alan Barges Memorial Fund, c/o BBT Bank Laurich Branch, 4136 Lincoln Way West, St. Thomas, PA 17252.
