A. Linwood Starner, age 86, passed away on December 5, 2025 at his home. Alvin was born on October 27, 1939 in Carlisle, PA to John Starner and Verna (Weidner) Starner. 

A. Linwood Starner was an insurance agent for 20 years for Nationwide. He also was an Industrial Arts Teacher at Lower Paxton Middle School. However, in his recent years, he worked for USPS for 10 years. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed woodworking in his spare time. 

Survivors include one son, Scott Starner, of Gardners; two granddaughters, Amanda Deardorff and her husband, Brandon of Biglerville, and Jessie Starner of Abliene KS; four great-grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 10 step great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 29 years, Judith Elane (Wenschhof) Starner and second wife of nearly 18 years, Doris J. (McGlaughlin) Starner. 

Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral & Cremation, Ltd., 111 S. Main Street, Bendersville. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Mt. Tabor Church, 1290 Gabler Rd., in Gardners. A viewing will be held from 11:00 PM - 1:00 PM. Burial will follow the service in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. The family invites everyone for a luncheon at the church following the burial.
