Amelia C. Ogden

November 17, 1917 — October 3, 2010

Amelia C. (Bosak) Ogden, a resident of Brighton, Michigan and former long time resident of Bendersville, Pennsylvania, died peacefully on Sunday, October 3, 2010 at the age of 92. Born in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on November 10, 1917, she was the daughter of John Anna (Krivda) Bosak. After school, Amelia worked as a nanny for a number of families learning at an early age the art of keeping order within the household. She graduated from Gettysburg High School and years later would meet Chester Frederick Ogden, the love of her life. She was married at the age of twenty-three and later blessed with the birth of her daughter, Anna. The Ogdens moved to Bendersville enjoying their longtime residence, many friendships and roots within the community for over fifty-five years. Amelia appreciated the things most people take for granted. She remembered and shared stories of her girlhood, growing up on the farm and having to make do with her tattered shoes-regardless of the long walk to school. She made the most of her day, taking on duties and chores with the airy elegance that was reflected in her home. Whether it was starching and pressing the curtains to all twenty-five windows or impeccably tending to her rose gardens, Amelia did so without fuss or bother. She enjoyed cooking, loved a good party and was especially fond of the opportunity to be hostess to many family get-togethers and special occasions. In addition to her loving daughter, Anna (Joel) Dugan, Amelia is survived by her granddaughters, Stephanie (Dan) Bajorek, Colleen (Paul) Carey; her 5 great grandchildren, Tim, Katie, Nick, Anna and Connor; brothers, John (the late Geneva) Bosak, Joseph (Dorothy) Bosak and sister, Elizabeth (Walter) Hayes. Her many nieces, nephews and dear friends also survive. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. Patrick Parish, 711 Rickett Road, Brighton, MI on Wednesday, October 6th at 11AM with Fr. Karl Pung officiating. Friends may visit at the Church from 9:30AM until Mass begins. Services will continue from Dugan Funeral Home, 111 S. Main Street, Bendersville, PA on Saturday, October 9th at 11AM with visitation beginning at 9:30AM. Memorials are encouraged to be made to St. Joseph Livingston Hospice or Angela Hospice Development Office, 14100 Newburgh Road, Livonia, MI 48154.
