Amos T. Smith, Jr., age 86 of Gardners died early on the morning of Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Golden Living in Gettysburg. He was born Wednesday, September 5, 1923 inRouzerville and was a son of the lateAmos T. andAnna (Rowe) Smith, Sr. Amos was formerly employed by Teledyne Landis in Waynesboro for many years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. His companion Mabel Sheaffer died in1974. Amos is survived by his daughter, Connie Latham of Gates, Tennessee; three stepdaughters, Shelvy Sheaffer and Doris Sheaffer, both of Gardners and Helen Malinoski of Arendtsville; a stepson, Michael Sheaffer of York Springs; three brothers, Alfred Smith, Waynesboro, Frank Smith, Rouzerville and James Smith,West Virginia. He was preceded in death by a stepson, Kenneth Sheaffer and numerous brothers and sisters. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 S. Main St., Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 10, at the Dugan Funeral Home, Bendersville with the Reverend James Speelman officiating. Interment will be in Idaville Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 10:00 AM until time of services.
