Amy L. (Orner) Talbot, age 57 of Mechanicsburg, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Harrisburg Hospital. She was born Saturday, July 9, 1955 in Gettysburg, the daughter of the late Emerson Orner and the late Geraldine (Horick) Orner. Amy graduated from Biglerville High School in 1973. She graduated from Catawba College in South Carolina with a Bachelors Degree in Social Services. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Bendersville.Amy retired from Cumberland County Office of Aging and Community Services as the creator and case manager of the county Homeless Assistance Program. She served on the Board of Health Share Community Partnership, as well as volunteering with Neighbors In Christ, United Way Emergency Shelter Program, Samaritan Fellowship, Project Share, New Hope Ministries and many Salvation Army activities. Amy's entire career in social services, both Children and Youth and homeless assistance programs focused on assisting folks in order to improve their quality of life and help them to become more independent. Her caring and loving personality, as well as her wonderful sense of humor, gave so much to everyone around her, something we will all dearly miss. She also volunteered with Special Olympics in Mechanicsburg Area "M." She originally began volunteering with Special Olympics in the Hagerstown Area. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Kenneth S. Talbot. She is also survived by one sister, Jo Rice of Carlisle; a God Son, Ethan Cuglietta of Las Vegas, NV and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sara Elizabeth Talbot in 1986. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Shippensburg with Reverend Robert S. McEllroy III officiating. Interment will be in Bendersville Cemetery. A visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:30 AM until time of services. It is Amy's wish that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Project Share Food Bank, 5 N. Orange Street, #4, Carlisle, PA 17013 or C.A.R.E.S., Emergency Shelter Services, 50 West Penn St., Carlisle, PA 17013.
