Anna Marie Dettwiler

Anna Marie Dettwiler, age 79 of Hagerstown, MD, formerly of Shippensburg, passed away September 23, 2022. She was born May 15, 1943, to the late Arthur and Rhoda (Layman) Johnson.

Anna Marie was a member of Culbertson Mennonite Church, she loved to sew and knit, reading, gardening, babysitting and caring for the elderly. The last few years she didn’t enjoy the best of health. Since July, her health was a downward decline.

She is survived by her children, Cherye Ocker and husband, Merle of Chambersburg, Rosetta Sampson and husband, Christopher of Pigeon Forge, TN and Joseph Dettwiler of Pleasant Hall; seven step-grandchildren and 25 step-great grandchildren. Anna Marie is also survived by siblings, Daniel Johnson and wife, Brenda, Samuel Johnson, Alice Falls, Ruth Duncan and Susan Poole, all of Virginia and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Sheldon, two granddaughters and two sisters.

Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 51 Asper Drive Shippensburg. Visitation will be held Friday, September 30 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00PM at the Culbertson Mennonite Church, 5730 Sunset Pike Chambersburg, PA 17202. Funeral service will be held at 10:00AM Saturday, October 1, 2022 with local ministry officiating.
