Archibald Surplus, Jr.

Archibald Surplus, Jr., age 93 of Biglerville, PA, formerly of Ridley Township, entered rest on Wednesday, October 3, 2018. He was the beloved husband of 75 years to Virginia (nee Cafra) Surplus. He was also a devoted father of Lloyd Surplus, Joyce DeCristo, Jeannette Snyder, Archibald (Archie) and Susan Surplus, Virginia (Jeanie) and Joe Greenhalgh, David and Lisa Surplus and Paul and Susan Surplus. Archie was the loving and proud grandfather of 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Born in Essington, PA on February 5, 1925, Archie lived most of his life in Ridley Township. He moved to Biglerville in 1986. Archie worked 43 years for Acme Markets, retiring in 1986. He was an avid computer user and learner and sports fan, especially his Eagles. He could be found opening a 5-gallon container of vanilla ice cream waiting for a fresh hot apple topping from his wife. Archie loved to be with his family most of all, relishing their visits to Biglerville. He was outgoing and friendly, always seeing the best in those he met. He took great pride in his family and their accomplishments. His sense of humor and love of a good joke was legendary. His passing leaves a deep hole in the hearts of his family who will love and adore him forever. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., Bendersville. Arrangements are private.
