Arlene R. Keer, age 84, of Shippensburg, passed away Monday, August 26, 2024 at Celebration Villa in Shippensburg. She was born Monday, March 25, 1940 in Monticello, NY, the daughter of the late Ralph O. and Ruth A. (DePuy) Burton.
Arlene graduated from Fallsburg High School in New York and then earned her Associates Degree in Library Science from Orange County Community College in Middletown, NY. She was formerly employed by H&R Block in Shippensburg for many years and also worked at the Carlisle Barracks in the library for several years. Arlene was a dedicated mother to her three daughters. She was a member of Middle Spring Presbyterian Church, where she was a dedicated and active member. She served as a deacon and a ruling elder of the church. Her family, community, and her church family were most important to her. She was also a true patriot of her country.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Albert F. Keer, who passed in February of 2024. She is survived by three daughters, Cynthia A. Hockenberry and companion, Kevin Wolford of Shippensburg, Patricia L. and husband, Marc Weibley of Waynesboro and Carolyn R. Keer and husband, David Waxman of Medford Lakes, NJ.; three grandsons, Taran Hockenberry, Connor Weibley and Logan Weibley; and two great-grandchildren, Bentlee Hockenberry and Brooks Hockenberry.
Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 30, at Middle Spring Presbyterian Church, 135 Middle Spring Road. Shippensburg, with Reverend Ed Blank officiating. Interment will be in Middle Spring Church Cemetery, Shippensburg. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 29, at the Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 PM and at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until time of services. The service will also be livestreamed on the church website at http://www.middlespringpc.org
