Barbara, “Tootie”, Ann Danner, age 88, of Chambersburg, passed away Friday, April 1, 2022 at Chambersburg Hospital. She was born July 16, 1933 in Woodruff, South Carolina, as the daughter of the late Smiley Wiley and Edna Mae (Sweat) Griffin. Barbara graduated from Savanah High School in Georgia. Later in life, Barbara obtained her LPN and worked as a nurse at Chambersburg Hospital. She also worked at the Chambersburg Visitor Center and was very active in the local AARP organization. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Chambersburg, volunteered with American Red Cross and also helped with the blood mobile, volunteered at the hospital as a candy striper. Barbara and her late husband, Donald both enjoyed boating, fishing, traveling and camping. In her spare time, she was involved with the Garden Club, enjoyed playing cards, and was known by her family as being a “card shark” and she loved traveling to Florida and spent several months out of the year there. Barbara is survived by her loving daughter, Patricia Ann Detman and her husband, James of Chambersburg; loving son, Howard Lee Danner of Chambersburg; brother and sister-in-law, Philip and Karen Danner; one granddaughter, Melissa Ann Penrose and her husband, Michael, “Cody”; four great-grandchildren, Hannah Grace Forrester, Emily Anne Forrester, Chase Alexander Penrose and Weston Michael Penrose and one grandson, Dr. Robert Andreas Norris, III and his wife, Ashley Jacobs Norris; three great-grandchildren, Isabel Jae Norris, Hadley Nicole Norris and Jake Andreas Norris and numerous extended family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Donald Lee Danner who passed August 7, 2013 and four siblings, Francis Huddleston, Marcene St. John, Kathleen Cota and Smiley D. Griffin. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. A Public Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 8, 2022 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 750 Norland Avenue, Chambersburg, PA17201 with Pastor John Kratz officiating. A Visitation will take place from 9:00 AM until the time of services at the church. A Procession to Lincoln Cemetery in Chambersburg will follow services.
