Barbara A. Smyers

Barbara A. Smyers, age 66 of McKnightstown, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Gettysburg Hospital. She was born Sunday, October 24, 1948 in Gettysburg, the daughter of Mary C. (Petry) Nunemaker of Fayetteville and the late William J. Nunemaker. Barbara graduated from Gettysburg High School in 1966. She was formerly employed by the US Postal Service for 34 years. She was postmaster at McKnightstown and Idaville Post Offices. She was a member of Idaville United Brethren in Christ Church. She enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters and her family. Her husband Sidney R. Smyers, passed away in 1986. She is survived by her daughter, Linda R. and husband Daniel Asper of Gardners; her son, Benjamin W. and wife Kelly Smyers of Gardners; three granddaughters, Amy R. and Katie L. Smyers and Rebecca L. Asper; a sister, Joann E. Zychal of Fayetteville; two nieces and one nephew. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, March 2 at Idaville United Brethren Church, 3590 Carlisle Road, Gardners with Reverend Stuart Johns officiating. A visitation will be held on Monday at the church from 1:00 PM until time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to Idaville United Brethren Church, 3590 Carlisle Road, Gardners, PA 17324.
