Bernice M. Shenberger, age 69 of York Springs, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at her home. She was born Tuesday, June 1, 1948 in Gettysburg, the daughter of the late Robert and Gladys (Carbaugh) Black. Bernice attended Baumholder American High School in Germany, while her father was in the US Army during the Korean War. She graduated from Silver Springs High School in Silver Springs, MD. She had formerly worked at Lerew Ford in East Berlin. She had also worked at Lady and Taylor in Gettysburg and Dyna Corp in York. She was a member of the Ladies Auxilary of the VFW in East Berlin and Ira E. Lady American Legion Post 262 in Biglerville. Bernice enjoyed being the proprietor of Bernie's What Nots operated on her property. It afforded her the ability to share her love of antiques and collectables with the community. She is survived by her daughter, D. Rebecca and husband David Pittman of Taneytown, MD, two granddaughters, Abigail and Lucille Pittman both of Taneytown. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brittany Utermahlen Olson. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., Bendersville. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 26 at Dugan Funeral Home, 111 S. Main Street, Bendersville with Reverend Rick Robinson officiating. Interment will be in Bendersville Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Make A Wish, 2951 Whiteford Road #304, York, PA 17402.
