Bertha E. Gardner, age 90 of Gardners, died Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Transitions Health Care in Gettysburg. She was born Monday, November 28, 1921 in Tyrone Township, Adams County, the daughter of the late Edward and Beulah (Wampler) Cline. Bertha graduated from Biglerville High School in 1939. She had been employed by C. H. Musselman in Gardners for several years. She retired from Lincoln General Insurance in Gettysburg. After her retirement, she worked at Jane's Market in Biglerville for many years She was a member ofMount Tabor United Methodist Church. Bertha enjoyed cooking, traveling and bus trips with her companion, Nelson Kane of Bendersville. Her husband Harry E. Gardner died in 1996. She is survived by a sister, Margaret Rose of Gettysburg, three half-sisters: Shirley Hoke of Arendtsville, Romaine Weikert of Arendtsville and Louise Swartz of Mechanicsburg; a half-brother, Dave Cline of Gardners; three grandchildren: Todd Gardner of Biglerville, Travis Gardner of Gardners and Jill Clark of Arendtsville; ten great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren. Her daughter-in-law, Pegg Gardner of Arendtsville, also survives her. Two sons preceded her in death: William and Frank Gardner and three brothers: Thurston, John and Dale Cline. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 23 at 2:00 pm at Dugan Funeral Home with Ken L. Fetters officiating. Interment will be in Bendersville Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 12:30 pm until time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, c/o Ken Fetters, 1289 Gablers Road, Gardners, PA 1324.
