Mrs. Bertha W. (Starner) Murtoff, age 93, formerly of Gardners, died on Friday, June 4, 2010 at Chapel Pointe Carlisle. She was born Sunday, December 17, 1916 in Gardners, a daughter of late Charles and Rosie (Starner) Starner. Bertha was a homemaker and a member of Faith Chapel Independent Bible Church in Carlisle. Her husband Boyd Bream Murtoff died in 2001. She is survived by her daughter, Joy U. Knaub, Wellsville, seven sons: D. Richard Murtoff, Carlisle,Lawrence H. Murtoff, Gardners, Douglas M. Murtoff, Gardners,Laird K. Murtoff, Gardners, David O. Murtoff, York Springs, Jay M. Murtoff, Gardners, Steve S. Murtoff, Gardners;asister, Marion Black of Biglerville; sixteen grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters Beulah Hewitt and Ethel Fetters and seven brothers, Ralph, Grover, James, Howard, Clyde, Roland and Richard Starner. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc.,111 S. Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 9, at the Faith Chapel, 1453 Holly Pike, Carlisle with the Reverend Michael Mayer officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. A viewing will be held at Dugan Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday, June 8 from 7 to 9 PM. A viewing will also be held at the church Wednesday from 9:00 AM until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Chapel Independent Bible Church, 1453 Holly Pike, Carlisle PA 17013.
