Betty J. Donovan

Betty J. Donovan, age 83 of Walnut Bottom, died Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at the home of her daughter, surrounded by family. She was born Wednesday, October 24, 1928 in Shippensburg, the daughter of the late Irvin and Grace (Warren) Bowers. Betty retired from the Greif Company of Shippensburg after 42 years of service. She was also a licensed beautician. She was currently employed by Shippensburg Area School District working in the middle school cafeteria. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Walnut Bottom. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Merle W. Donovan who passed away in 1989. Betty is survived by her daughter, Dixie L. Coons and husband Sonny of Walnut Bottom; three granddaughters: Robin Burnhisel of Newburg, Bridget Burnhisel and husband Scott of Newville, and Cristy Lentz and husband Michael, Jr. of Walnut Bottom; six great-grandchildren: Anna, Jacob, Emily, Sara, and Cole Burnhisel and Amber Lentz. She was also preceded in death by her siblings Irvin Bowers, Jr., Lula Rice and Earl "Dean" Bowers. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 23, at 10:30 am at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg with Rev. Harold Bolyard officiating. Interment will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens in Carlisle. A visitation will be held from 9:30 am until time of services.
