Betty L. Weatherly, age 80 of Gettysburg, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2017 at her home. She was born Monday, December 28, 1936 in Gardners, the daughter of the late George E. and Katherine (Barbour) Riley, Sr. Betty graduated from Bermudian Springs High School in 1955. She was a dedicated homemaker, who worked tirelessly to provide a wonderful life for her family. With her soft and gentle touch, she could make life's problems fade away. Betty was a wonderful cook- each member of her family having that favorite item, which she would lovingly prepare for their birthdays every year. Betty had numerous interests over the years. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, painting, reading and puzzles. She was never a social butterfly, but the friends she had- she kept for a lifetime. She was a true inspiration to everyone who knew her. She was a member of Peace Light Brethren in Christ Church in McKnightstown. Her husband Willy E. Weatherly passed away March 16, 1995. She is survived by her daughter, Lori A. and husband Robert Dewees of Fairfield, son Darren E. and wife Susan Weatherly of Abbottstown, five grandsons: Michael and wife Justine Riley, Matthew and wife Alysha Riley, Ryan Weatherly, Robert and wife Rebekah Dewees and Sheldon Weatherly, seven great-grandchildren, Derek, Bryan, Connor, Jordyn, Robby, Ava and Carter, three sisters, Janet Barrick of Gardners, Beverly Mains of Carlisle, Emma Jane and husband Dick Buckley of York Springs, four brothers, Harold "Tom" and wife Donna Riley of Gardners, Ronald and wife Carolyn Riley of Wellsville, Donald Riley of Aspers, George and wife Ruth Riley of Three Springs. She was preceded in death by sister, Joanne (Riley) Beam. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., Bendersville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, March 13 at Dugan Funeral Home, 111 South Main St., Bendersville with Pastor James C. Strite officiating. Interment will be in Fairfield Union Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Monday from 1:00 PM until time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to SpiriTrust Lutheran Hospice, 260 W. High St., Gettysburg, PA 17325.
