Brenda Jane Sheaffer

Brenda Jane “BJ” Sheaffer, age 74, of Chambersburg, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025 at Brookview Healthcare Center, Chambersburg. She was born November 6, 1950 in Chambersburg, the child of the late Paul Baker, Jr. and Helen M. (Miller) Baker.

Brenda graduated the Class of 1968 from Chambersburg Area Senior High School. After high school, BJ worked at Scotland School for Veteran’s Children as a secretary. She then worked as an administrative assistant for the President's Office of Shippensburg University for over 20 years and ended her career there. She met and married her husband, Larry L. Sheaffer on November 8, 1974, and they were married for 44 years. BJ was a member of a local corvette club. In her spare time, BJ enjoyed painting, crafts, boating, and her beloved pets.

BJ is survived by her two loving sisters, Carol Ann Leidig of Mechanicsburg and Karen S. Bitner and her husband, Nick R. Bitner of Chambersburg, four nephews, Douglas and Jeffrey Leidig and Jeremy and Travis Bitner and several great-nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents, BJ was preceded in death by her husband, Larry L. Sheaffer, who passed in September 2018, and her brother-in-law, Charles Wesley “Wes” Leidig.

Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Private Graveside Services will take place at Lincoln Cemetery.
