C. Virginia Peters

C. Virginia (Gardner) Peters, age 91, formerly of Walnut Bottom, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Orrstown Personal Care Home in Orrstown, PA. She was born Saturday, September 27, 1924 in Newburg, the daughter of the late Bryce and Edna (Heberlig) Gardner. Virginia was formerly employed by Knouse Foods, Peach Glen for several years. She also had been employed at GS Electric in Carlisle for several years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Walnut Bottom, which included the Bible study group. Her husband, C. Thomas (Tom) Peters passed in 2001. She is survived by four daughters, Patricia A. and husband Timothy Wagner of East Hartford, CT, Colleen A. and husband Lt. Col. Michael Markovich of Greencastle, Teresa A. and husband Lyle Wadel of Shippensburg, Julia A. and husband Magnus Ellerts of Woodbridge, VA, one son, Gregory A. Peters of Great Falls, VA, eleven grandchildren, two sisters, Lavina Coleman of Chambersburg, Mary Ann Robertson of Dover, DE, two brothers, Lee and wife Joyce Gardner of Shippensburg, Robert and wife Sherry Gardner of Newburg, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Larry A. Peters, and four brothers Eugene, James, Charles, and Richard. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 7 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Walnut Bottom, PA 17266 with Reverend Harold Bolyard officiating. Private interment will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 AM until time of services.
