Carl C. Beam

Carl C. Beam, age 89 of Gardners, passed away December 29, 2024 at Harrisburg Hospital. He was born August 10, 1935 in Carlisle to the late Carl R. and Carolyn (Frost) Beam.

Carl was baptized at Goodyear Lutheran Church and was a member of the FOE Lodge 1299 in Carlisle. He enjoyed traveling, gambling, going to meat raffles and fireman carnivals and campfires. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Shelvie (Rickrode) Beam, whom he would have celebrated 68 years of marriage on January 17, 2025; son, Robert Beam and domestic partner, Al Smith of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Kim Keiter of Gardners; granddaughters, Kelly Updegraff and husband, Darvin of York Haven and Janelle Scott and husband, Jonathan of Carlisle; great-grandchildren, Nolan Updegraff, Hunter Updegraff, Taylor Rice and Julia Scott. Carl was preceded in death by his sisters, Joyce Lybrand and Margaret Keckler and son-in-law, Lonnie Keiter.

Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 S. Main Street, Bendersville, where a funeral service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 1:00 PM. A viewing will be held from 11:00 AM until time of funeral service. Reverend Richard Reese will officiate the funeral. Carl will be laid to rest at Goodyear Cemetery.
