Carolyn "Sue" L. Decker

Carolyn "Sue" L. Decker, age 65 of York Springs, died peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at York Hospital. She was born Sunday, January 19, 1947 in Gettysburg, the daughter of Pearl I. (Dennis) Starner of York Springs and the late Cornelius S. Starner. Carolyn graduated from Bermudian Springs High School in 1966. She was formerly employed by Weis Market in Gettysburg for 20 years and also Dolmyers Sewing in York Springs for 10+ years. Her most recent employer was Bermudian Springs School District where she worked in the cafeteria of the middle school for 5 years. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in New Chester, Eagles of Gettysburg and Farm Women of York Springs. Her hobbies included sewing, rug making, cooking and baking. She was a huge collector of salt and pepper shakers. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Ronald G. Decker, Sr. She is also survived by two daughters: Shelly A. and husband Roy Moore of East Berlin and Jennifer L. and husband Brad Wolf of York Springs, a son, Ronald G. and wife Lisa Decker, Jr.of Dillsburg; two sisters: Brenda Ahlers of York Springs and Crystal Hertz of York Springs; four brothers: Rodney Starner of New Oxford, Nathan Starner of York Springs, Charles Starner of Gardners, and Grover Starner of Dillsburg; eight wonderful grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday, November 10 at St. John's United Church of Christ, 2243 Hunterstown-Hampton Road, New Chester with Rev. Doug Hahn officiating. Interment will be in Hampton Union Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of services.
