Catherine Nelson, age 99, formerly of Biglerville, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018 at SpiriTrust Home in Gettysburg. She was born Tuesday, May 27, 1919 in Horsham Township, Montgomery County, the daughter of the late Edwin and Ida (Jackson) Smith. Catherine was formerly employed by C.H. Musselman in Biglerville for many years. She and her husband owned and operated Nelson Farm Supply in Biglerville for several years. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Biglerville. Her passion in life was taking care of family, people and children. She was a very caring lady. She prepared the 'before school breakfast' at her church beside the Biglerville High School. Her first husband, Louis B. Meyers, Jr., passed away in 1967. She was also preceded in death by her second husband Roy Nelson. She is survived by her daughter, Susan J.M. Askew of Hampton, CT, her son, Robert L. and wife Cheryl Meyers of Orrtanna, 2 step-daughters, Jane Lady of Gettysburg, and Nancy Beatty of Virginia, step-son Fred Nelson of Biglerville, two granddaughters, Dawn L. Meyers of North Carolina and Kimberly J. Abell of Connecticut, grandson, Jason L. Slate of Biglerville, step-granddaughters, Lori Richards of Gardners and Trisha Guise of York Springs, great-grandchildren, Cole and Austin Abell, Tyler Slate, Cory Meyers, Stella Shaw, Ashley Berrios, step-great-grandchildren, Reed Richards, Josh Brandt, Cory Guise, Carter Guise, great-great-grandchildren, Braya Berrios, and Hadley Slate. She was a Nanna to many people. She was preceded in death by grandson Todd L. Meyers and son-in-law George Askew and ten siblings. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 27, at Centenary United Methodist Church, 99 N. Main Street, Biglerville with Reverend Gary Fanus officiating. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 26 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Dugan Funeral Home and at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until time of services.
