The world lost one of its most caring and kind souls on Monday, May 2, 2016, with the passing of Cathy May (Negley) Dugan, 56, of Newville. Cathy had a kind soul, a gentle heart, and will be missed by all who knew her. While all of Cathy's friends and family will miss her dearly, she has gone home to be with the Lord and will now be blessing Heaven with her vibrant personality, wittiness, spunk, and generous heart. Cathy has also joined her father, Harry Melvin Negley, who she deeply missed since his passing in August of 1990. In both her personal and professional lives, Cathy worked to help anyone that she could in any way that she could. Personally, she put others before herself, especially her children and family. Professionally, following her graduation from Big Spring High School in 1978, Cathy was employed at the Carlisle Hospital and later Carlisle Regional Medical Center, from 1979 until 1994 and 2001 through 2006, respectively. During her break from the hospital, Cathy returned to school and attended Harrisburg Area Community College and earned an associates degree in human services in May of 2000. For the past nine years, Cathy worked at Valley Community Services, a group home, where she helped to provide care for individuals with mental disabilities. Next to her family, Cathy's favorite things were the beach and sunshine. She enjoyed feeling the cool breeze hit her face and the warm sun on her skin. Her favorite vacation spots were Ocean City, MD and Key West, FL, though her adventurous spirit led her to many places over the years. There are countless individuals who will miss Cathy, including her two children: Amanda Jo Dugan and Tanner Jacoby Dugan. Additionally, Cathy has left behind her mother, Dorothy May (Jacoby) Negley, five siblings: Dennis Melvin Negley, Gary Lee Negley and his wife Donna, Karen Louise (Negley) Erdman and her husband Carl, Edward Howard Negley, and Connie Sue (Negley) Kerstetter and her husband Kenny, two granddaughters: Alaura Mae Dugan and Rosalina Raelynn Dugan, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Cathy's care has been entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home Crematory, Inc. A celebration of Cathy's life will be held on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg. A visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00 AM until time of services. A fellowship reception will be held following services.
