Cecil L. Showers, age 76 of Bendersville, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at his home. He was born Friday, February 23, 1940 in Gettysburg, the son of the late Charles R. and Alice E. (Black) Showers. Cecil served as a fuel specialist in the US Air Force (1958 - 1962), US Air Force Reserve (1962-1963) and US Army National Guard of Pennsylvania, 28thInfantry Division, (1957-1958). Cecil graduated from Biglerville High School in 1958. He attended Penn State University.Throughout his lifetime, Cecil worked for several different companies supervising and inspecting the installation of water and sewer lines. He was most recently employed by New Oxford Municipal Authority. He was a member of Ira E. Lady American Legion Post 262 of Biglerville. He was a member of the Shoshonean Rod and Gun Club. Cecil was actively involved in Boy Scouts as Assistant Scout Master for Troop 75 in Gardners from 1979-1987. He enjoyed hunting, Penn State football, and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by two sons, Mike Showers and wife Dawn, Brad Showers and wife Nicole, all of Aspers; his grandson, Luke Showers, his sister, Mayetta C. Black of Biglerville, his brother, Freddie C. Showers of Gardners, and several nieces and nephews. Cremation services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. A graveside memorial service will be held at Wenksville Cemetery at 6:00 PM on Thursday, July 21, 2016. Memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scout Troop 75, c/o Melinda Culp, P.O.
