Charles J. Dove, age 79 of York Springs, passed away Friday, August 8, 2014 at Transitions Health Care in Gettysburg. He was born Tuesday, November 20, 1934 in Hedgesville, WV, the son of the late Grover E. and Mary F. (Boyd) Dove. Charles graduated from Biglerville High School in 1954. He was formerly employed by United Parcel Service in Harrisburg as a truck driver for 30+ years, where he was a member of the Million Mile Accident Free Club. In his early years he worked for C.H. Musselman and Weiser Orchards. He was a member of Benders Evangelical Lutheran Church in Biglerville, where he taught Sunday School for about 50 years. He was also a member of York Springs Lions Club, York Springs Fire Company, and I.O.O.F. of York Springs. He was a former Latimore Township Supervisor and zoning officer. Charles was an avid deer hunter and coin collector. His wife Betty Lou (Bowers) Dove passed away in 2010. He is survived by his daughter, Glenda L. Dove of York Springs, a son, Charles G. Dove of Franklintown, two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law D. Jean Guise of Gettysburg and Gloria (Wagner) Dove of Dover. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald E. Dove. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, August 14 at Benders Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1385 Rentzel Road, Biglerville with Reverend Susan J. McCarthy officiating. Interment will be in Benders Union Cemetery. A viewing will be held Wednesday, August 13 at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and at the church on Thursday from 9:30 AM until time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to Benders Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1385 Rentzel Road, Biglerville, PA 17307.
