Charles F. Black, age 84 of Biglerville, died Friday, February 15,2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 2, 1928 in Wenksville, a son of the late Adam Waybright and Catherine D. (Kuhn) Black. Charlie attended Biglerville High School and was employed all of his life as a carpenter in the Upper Adams Area, working with Maurice and Rene Black. He was a member of Wenksville United Methodist Church, Upper Adams Fish and Game, Life Member of the Bendersville Fire Company and a member of Ira E. Lady American Legion Post 262 in Biglerville. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Alice (Kump) Black; daughter Dorothy Black of Biglerville; daughter Kay Heflin and husband, Robert of Gettysburg; daughter Connie Hutchison and husband, Richard of Gettysburg; daughter Peggy Riley and husband, Daniel of Fairfield; daughter Cindy Wagaman and husband, Andrew of Bendersville; a son Jay Black and wife, Tracey of Biglerville; 11 grandchildren: Craig Hutchison, Stephanie Welty, Ryan Heflin, Derek Coleman, Justin Black, Samantha Wagaman, Morgan Riley, Ashlee Black, Abby Riley, Kenli Black, and Austin Riley; and 5 great grandchildren: Alec Kendall, Lexie Kendall, Kathryn Heflin, Landon Heflin, and Liam Welty; two sisters, Ruth Gulden and Dorothy Heller; and a brother, Donald Black. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joann Black; five sisters: Sarah Taylor, Alice Showers, Edna Showers, Marvel McCauslin, Mearl Miller; and two brothers, John Black and A. Waybright Black, Jr. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc, 111 S. Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, February 19 at Dugan Funeral Home with Reverend Dan Somers officiating. Interment will be at Wenksville Cemetery. Military honors at the graveside will be provided by Adams County Allied Veterans.A viewing will be held Monday, February 18 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Dugan Funeral Home.
