Charles L. Kunkleman

Charles “Chink” Leroy Kunkleman passed away peacefully on March 20th, 2024, at the Chambersburg Hospital. He was born November 7th, 1949, in Chambersburg Hospital to Charles “Chase” and Judith (Miller) Kunkleman. Charles grew up in Walnut Bottom and attended the Big Spring School District.


Charles worked for Pet, Inc. for 29 years and Shippensburg University Bookstore for 10 years before retiring in 2015. Charles will be remembered by his family as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Charles was a member of the Hub City Men’s Club, the Sons of the American Legion, and Minnequa Shippensburg Social Club. He loved spending time with his family, and also enjoyed camping, hunting, and rides through the mountains.


Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Brenda E. (Alleman) Kunkleman; two daughters, Tammy Baer and Lisa Kelley of Shippensburg; four granddaughters, Heather Landis of Carlisle, Megan Myers (husband Robert) of Shippensburg, Emily Ott (fiancé, Matt Wendling) of Camp Hill, and Erika Ott (fiancé, Tyler Snyder) of Shippensburg, three great-grandchildren, Brady (wife Hannah), Logan and Alyssa, a great-great-granddaughter, Delaney, and a brother, Ronald Kunkleman (wife Hazel) of Newville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Judith Kunkleman.


Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg. The family will hold services at a later date to honor his life.
