Clair L. Hammond

Clair "Pete" L. Hammond, age 76 of Shippensburg, died Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at his home. He was born Saturday, January 11, 1936 in Dry Run, the son of the late Lester W. and Nettie T. (Doyle) Hammond. Clair attended Fannett-Metal High School. He was formerly employed as a truck driver by Horns Motor Express and SKF Industries for many years. He was a member of the Teamsters Union. He was a member of Durff-Kuhn VFW Post 6168 and American Legion Post 223 in Shippensburg. He was an avid hunter and a member of Big Spring Fish and Game and Letterkenny Rod and Gun Club. He served in the US Army from 1955 to 1957 and the US Army Reserves from 1957 until 1961. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Delores J. (Hockenberry) Hammond. He is also survived by his daughter Deborah D. and husband Marvin L. Brimer of Palmdale, CA and his son Darryl L. Hammond of Shippensburg; three sisters: Virginia Biedel of Willow Hill, Brenda Flemming of Chambersburg, Mary Carolyn Lawrence of Chambersburg; one brother Lester Hammond, Jr. of Duncannon; two grandchildren Ashley and husband Zachary Christensen of Lancaster, CA and Tyler Brimer of Palmdale, CA and two great grandchildren Jenna and Rylee Christensen of Lancaster, CA. He was preceded in death by two brothers Warren and Richard Hammond. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 17 at 10:30 AM at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg with Reverend Kenneth Reid officiating. Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Sunday December 16 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 3544 North Progress Avenue, Suite 205, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
