Clyde "Pete" Edward Showers, 85, of Aspers died Saturday, August 27, 2011 at home and surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Tuesday, August 17, 1926 in Bendersville, the son of the late Edward and Beulah Jane (Warner) Showers. He married Peggy Ann (Sheaffer), who survives him, on November 23, 1984. Clyde worked hard as a fruit farmer, and was a working foreman in the Specialty Department at Knouse Foods. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during World War II. He was a member of Bendersville United Methodist Church. Clyde greatly enjoyed hunting and his hunting dogs. He greatly enjoyed wagon trains and rode them every chance he got. An avid baseball fan, the Phillies were his favorite team. He loved Gunsmoke and ice cream which were two of his favorite things. Among those surviving Clyde are his loving wife of 26 years: Peggy Ann (Sheaffer) Showers; two daughters: Patsy Leister her husband Eddie of New Oxford, Genny Russell her husband Steve of Aspers;a granddaughter, Jessica Rupp her husband David of Gettysburg; two brothers: Grayson Showers of Bendersville, Clair Showers of Aspers;a nephew, Tony Showers; anda grandnephew, Brian Showers. He was preceded in death by three sons,a daughter, three brothers, anda sister. All services are private and at the convenience of the family. Clyde's family has entrusted his care to Dugan Funeral Home in Bendersville.
