Dale E. Myers, Jr., age 69, of Shippensburg, passed away August 24, 2026, at Chambersburg Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born September 19, 1956, in Valley Forge, PA, to the late Dale E. Sr. and Clara Frances (Heider) Myers.
Dale worked for Ingersoll-Rand, served Cumberland County as the Fire Training Coordinator, and worked at Camp Hill State Prison as the Fire and Safety Manager. He attended First Assembly of God. His love for firefighting spanned many areas and departments. He was Chief Emeritus for Cumberland Valley Hose Company in Shippensburg and a member of West End Fire and Rescue, Vigilant Hose Company, and Pleasant Hall Fire Department. He was also a member of the PA State Firemen’s Association, served as a Fire Instructor for the PA State Fire Academy, and belonged to the Cumberland Valley Fire Association, the Cumberland County Firefighters Association, the Franklin County Juvenile Fire Starters program, the Gooseneckers Club, and Shippensburg Area EMS. In addition, Dale was in charge of the Explorer Post at Letterkenny Army Depot.
Dale earned his Eagle Scout and enjoyed camping and swinging on his porch swing. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his grandchildren and grand-animals.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Alma E. (Bufkin) Myers; daughter, Debra McKenzie and husband, Michael, Jr., of Shippensburg; sons, Dale E. Myers III and girlfriend, Hallee Fessler, of Orrstown, and Benjamin Myers and wife, Renee, of Orrstown; grandchildren, Michael McKenzie III and wife, Marissa; Madison Myers; Alexis Myers; MaKayla Myers; Sophia Myers; and Brock Myers, due in November; and great-grandson, Michael McKenzie IV. Dale is also survived by his brother, David Myers and wife, Lee, of Shippensburg and a niece and several nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Bonni Myers.
Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral and Cremation, Ltd., 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with an additional viewing from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service. Dale will be laid to rest at Spring Hill Cemetery.
