Dallas E. Plank

Dallas E. Plank, age 71 of York Springs, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2018 at his home. He was born Friday, April 11, 1947, in Arendtsville, the son of the late R. Landon and Mary M. (Kauffman) Plank. Dallas graduated from Biglerville High School in 1966. He then enlisted in the Army where he served as a helicopter mechanic. He went to Vietnam in 1967 and returned in1968. He attained the rank of sergeant. He was formerly employed by Caterpillar in York for 28 years. He was a member of Benders Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was also a member of East Berlin VFW and the United Auto Workers. Dallas had a passion for farming. He enjoyed hunting, going to the beach and enjoying the outdoors. He was a self-proclaimed tinkerer and loved working on his farm tractors. He was most passionate about his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kay F. (Cline) Plank. He is also survived by his daughter, Erin K. and husband Chris Lilley of York Springs, son, Dallas R. Plank of East Berlin, five grandchildren, two brothers, Kenny Plank in the Poconos and Elmer Plank in TN, and a sister, Barb Hostetter of York Springs. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Renee M. Plank who passed in 1988, one grandson, Miles D. Lilley, and five brothers and one sister. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Memorial services will be held at 7:30 PM Wednesday, June 6 at Dugan Funeral Home with Reverend Randall Huber officiating. Military Honors presented by East Berlin VFW following the service.
