David E. Ahlers, Jr., age 85, of York Springs died Friday, April 27, 2012 at Genesis Gettysburg Center. He was born Friday, April 1, 1927 in Carlisle, the son of the late David E. and Mabel (Griest) Ahlers, Sr. David graduated from East Berlin High School. He was formerly employed by O.J. Meyers in Hanover where he repaired appliances. He had previously worked for Ditzler Furniture and Appliance in York Springs as a repair technician. He was a member of Chapel Hill Church of God in York Springs. He was also a life member of the York Springs Fire Company. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary E. (Miller) Ahlers. He is also survived by five sons: Larry E and Brenda Ahlers of York Springs, Robert E. Ahlers, Cordova, TN, Daniel E. and wife Connie Ahlers of York Springs, Thomas E. and wife Tracy Ahlers of Gettysburg, Steven E. Ahlers and wife Kelly of Dillsburg; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard E. Ahlers, a half-brother, Boyd Crook and a sister, Loretta Leese. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral Services will be held at Wednesday May 2, at 10:00 AM at Chapel Hill Church of God, 4495 Oxford Road, York Springs with Reverend Randall Huber officiating. Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery. A viewing will be held Tuesday May 1, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Dugan Funeral Home, 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Memorial contributions may be made to Chapel Hill Church of God, 4495 Oxford Road, York Springs, PA 17372.
