David J. Dowling, age 30 of Carlisle, died Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Claremont Nursing and Rehab. He was born Sunday, June 20, 1982 in Hershey, the son of Robert W. and Bonnie M. (Wright) Dowling of Carlisle and the late Wanda A. (Miller) Dowling, who passed in 2005. David graduated from Big Spring High School in 2001. He was formerly employed by the Center for Industrial Training for several years and worked at Wal-Mart in Carlisle through CIT. He was an avid fan of Dale Earnhardt, Sr., the Washington Redskins, and Atlanta Braves. He enjoyed attending Harrisburg Piranha Football, Harrisburg Senators Baseball and Hershey Bears Hockey with his Uncle John. In addition to his father and mother, he is also survived by two brothers: Warren J. and wife Mindy Dowling and their two sons, Marcus and Mason, of Carlisle and Bryan R. Newell and his son Keyan of Carlisle; maternal grandparents Bobby J. and Barbara M. Schrade of Carlisle; paternal grandparents John E. and Nancy J. Miller of Carlisle and Robert D. and Faye Dowling of Rogersville, TN; maternal great-grandfather, James R. Hower of Myerstown; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. A Memorial Service honoring David will be held Saturday, April 27 at 11:00 at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg with Pastor Bruce Henneman officiating. Please dress casually, and feel free to wear attire for David's beloved Redskins. The family would like to thank Homeland Hospice and the staff of Claremont Nursing and Rehab in Carlisle. We want to thank everyone else that has taken the time to help and be a part of David's life. He has been a blessing and inspiring person to many, as well as a great son, brother, grandson, great-grandson and friend.
