David “Bro Coke” Parsons, age 62, of Shippensburg, passed away April 16, 2022 at UPMC West Shore Hospital. He was born September 13, 1959 in Newark, NJ, a son of Hayward Parsons and Isabell Lillie Mae (Little) Parsons Pinckney. David, fondly known as “Coke,” was a University of Maryland graduate, as well as a retired senior enlisted US Army Veteran who served in the Gulf War and worked in logistics at Letterkenny Army Depot as a government employee with over 40 years combined service. He was a member and staunch supporter of Plumbline Military Lodge for over twenty years at a small military base in Busan, South Korea. He was a member of the concordant bodies to include the Eastern Stars, Royal Arch masons and Scottish Rite masons. He was very active in fundraising for Soldiers, Civilians and the Widows and Orphans of the Busan Community. He was first and foremost a man of family and service, which is shown throughout his life. Always positive and reliable, he was a pillar of strength to family and friends. If he was not planning for the next family reunion or researching and sharing family lineage information, he was likely helping family members and friends with means to improve their lives or spending quality time catching up over the phone. He loved singing karaoke, fishing, watching western cowboy movies, exploring electronic gadgets, talking to his entire family, and supporting family, friends, colleagues and even acquaintances in a broad range of endeavors. He would drop everything to help others without making anyone feel like they were inconveniencing him. He put others before himself. He was known for being stoic, supportive, kind, funny, knowledgeable, but most of all, a selfless and honorable man that touched the lives of many. David is survived by his cherished mother of Plainfield, NJ, beloved wife of 39 years, Yi Parsons of Shippensburg, loving daughters, Sabrina Parsons of Fort Walton Beach, FL and Sarina Vanausdle of Fairfax, VA, loving grandchildren, L’enour Vanausdle and Nathan Vanausdle, dear brother, Perry Lee Parsons, Sr. of Chambersburg, dear nephew, Perry Lee Connor Jr. of Plainfield, NJ and dear niece, Tiffany Cooke of Plainfield, NJ. He was preceded in death by his father. Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg. A Public Viewing will be held from 2:00 PM until time of the Funeral Service at 4:00 PM on Sunday, April 24 at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Shippensburg.
