David H. Rhone, Jr.

David H. Rhone, Jr., age 90 of Chambersburg, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Chambersburg Hospital surrounded by loved ones. He was born Saturday, June 21, 1924 in Middle Spring, the son of the late David H. and Esther Elizabeth (Rosenberry) Rhone, Sr. David graduated from Shippensburg High School and Shippensburg University. He completed his graduate work at the University of Florida and the University of Pennsylvania. David retired as Deputy Superintendent of the Pennsbury School District, Bucks County, PA after 20 years of service. Prior to his employment in Pennsbury, he worked for Pinellas County Schools in Florida. He served as a financial advisor in the finance bureau of the Department of Education in Harrisburg. Following his retirement, Mr. Rhone spent twelve years as president of National Management Associates, Inc., a firm specializing in financial planning, organization and staffing employee compensation and benefits program. He also had served as interim Superintendent in the Upper Adams School District in Biglerville. Dave was a member of Middle Spring Presbyterian Church and FA M Lodge 127 of Clearwater, FL. David was one of the original founders of PASBO. He later served as president of that organization and served as a board member of ASBO, the national organization. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a sergeant in Troop C, 11th Calvary Group in Europe from March 1944 until June 1945. His wife, Eleanor (Loy) Rhone died in 2012. His son, Daniel L. Rhone passed away in 2007. He is survived by a granddaughter, Lisa M. McHugh of Hatfield, and a grandson, Bryan Rhone of Vincentown, NJ, great-grandson, Richard Dean Barnett, and a sister, Louise M. Heberlig of Chambersburg. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Middle Spring Presbyterian Church,135 Middle Spring Road, Shippensburg with Reverend Kim Wadlington officiating. Interment will be in Middle Spring Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Masonic services will be provided by FA M Masonic Lodge 262 of Orrstown at 10:30 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to Middle Spring Presbyterian Church, 135 Middle Spring Road, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
