Dean E. Starry

Dean E. Starry, age 74, of York died Sunday, May 29, 2011 in his home. He was born Monday, December 28, 1936 in York Springs, the son of the late Clair J. and PearlA. (Slaybaugh) Starry. Dean graduated from Biglerville High School in 1954. He was employed by Kinard Trucking for 10 years. He also drove for McCrory Distribution and Anchor Motor Freight, which is where he began his driving career. He was secretary/treasurer and cook for Camp Ono in Tioga County. He served in the PA Army National Guard for three years. He is survived by his wife Marilyn (Martin) Starry to whom he was married for 24years. He is also survived by three daughters: Karen L. Starry, York, Kathleen S. Lloyd, Dover, Kimberly L. Starry, Indialantic, FL; one son, Steven J. Starry, Orlando, FL and one stepson, Chad Bender of Springfield, VA; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; one brother, Gene Starry of New Oxford, and two sisters: Joyce Snyder of New Oxford, Carolyn Starryof New York City.He was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Slaybaugh, a sister, Marian Fetrow and a grandson, Shawn M. Hamme. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, June 2, at Dugan Funeral Home with Pastor Patrick Rooneyofficiating. Interment will be in Biglerville Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 1 from 6 to 8 PM.
