Dean R. Speelman

Dean R. Speelman, age 60 of New Oxford, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Gettysburg Hospital. He was born Monday, February 6, 1956 in Gettysburg, the son of Mary Teresa (Redding) Speelman of Gettysburg and the late Stanley R. Speelman. Dean graduated from Gettysburg High School in 1974. He was formerly employed by Herff Jones for 40 years. He was currently employed at Graphcom in Gettysburg. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Gettysburg. He had attended Crosskeys Fellowship Church and was a member of the New Oxford Social Club. He is survived by his wife of six years, Brenda S. Starner. He is also survived by two sons, Alan Speelman of Columbus, OH, Kevin Speelman of York, a brother, Greg and wife Deb Speelman of Aspers, nephew Joe and wife Brittany Speelman, a stepdaughter, Amy and husband Jason Bair of New Oxford, a stepson Daniel and wife Amanda Moore of Hanover, and eight step-grandchildren. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 3 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Dugan Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 4 at 10:30 AM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 22 W. High Street, Gettysburg with Reverend John Kuchinski officiating. Interment will follow in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Crosskeys Community Park, 785 Berlin Road, New Oxford, PA 17350.
