Dominique A. Bigler

Dominique Ashley Bigler, age 19 of Shippensburg, passed away Monday, August 4, 2014 at Hershey Medical Center. She was born Saturday, December 31, 1994 in Lexington, SC the daughter of Gary R. and Marsha J. (Chaplin) Bigler, Jr. of Shippensburg. Dominique was formerly enrolled in Commonwealth Connections Academy for seven years. She was now studying at home to receive her high school diploma from Shippensburg High School, working towards her goal of attending Penn State University to study Biomedical Research and Herpetology, like her hero, Steve Irwin. She had attended six THONs held at Penn State University. She loved the great outdoors. She loved to fish, camp, spot deer and look for any wildlife. Dom actively raised money for the Four Diamonds Fund and Camp-Can-Do, which is a cancer camp for patients and their siblings located in Mt. Gretna. Along with her friend Bekah Rundall, Dom participated in, Wigs for Kids at Shippensburg University in May. She recently made her third trip to Montana to Camp Make-a-Dream to be with her friends who are fighting this terrible disease. She and her Dad drove there in June and spent seven days at the camp. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her sister, Natasha A. Bigler of Shippensburg, paternal grandfather Gary R. Bigler, Sr. and paternal grandmother, Karen L. and husband Charles Baer, all of Shippensburg, paternal great-grandmother Betty Jean Binner of Shippensburg and maternal grandparents, Earl E. and Mildred (Welcher) Milstead of Verona, VA. She was preceded in death by a sister who passed at birth. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 9 at Shippensburg First Church of God, 121 E. King Street, Shippensburg with Reverend Dr. Steve Dunn and Pastor Brad Mowery officiating. A viewing will be held at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg on Friday, August 8 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Four Diamonds Funds or Camp-Can-Do Forever, c/o Mr. and Mrs. Gary R. Bigler, Jr., 4 Buffalo Drive, Shippensburg, PA 17257. Contributions to defray funeral expenses may be made to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
