Donald E. Wilkinson, age 67, a resident of Elmcroft,129 Walnut Bottom Road, Shippensburg died Monday, June 6, 2011 at Chambersburg Hospital. He was born Tuesday, June 6, 1944 in Natchez, Mississippi,the son of the late Carl M. and Myrtle Lucille (Whitescrauer) Wilkinson. Don moved to New Orleans and then to Baton Rouge, Louisiana.Don married Eileen Gay Allen on January 22, 1965. Eileen died on April 10, 2000. Donald graduated from Baton Rouge High School in 1962. He attended LSU for two years and after returning from the service, he earned his BA in Business and an MBA from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana. He retired from Shippensburg University as the Vice President of Administration and Finance in June of 2005 after 22 years of service. Don was highly respected by all those who came in contact with him. He was always looking out for others and making sure everyone was okay. Don was a big fan and supporter of the Shippensburg University Men's Basketball program and he would help cook at their annual golf tournament. Don was a charter member of the Shippensburg Kiwanis Club and while able, was active in the youth projects, helping the children in any way he could. He loved to be involved with the Children's Fair held in Heiges Field House on the campus of Shippensburg University. He was also a member of the Shippensburg University Foundation Board of Fellows. Following his retirement, you could always find Don and his close friends at 6 AM every morning at Goodie's Restaurant. Don entered the service in October of 1966 and obtained the rank of Sergeant with the US Army while serving in Vietnam. He was released to the Reserves in 1968. Don is survived by his sister-in-law, Margaret and Husband Vic Erwin of Baton Rouge, sister-in-law, Carol Allen of Baton Rouge,and sister-in-law, Debra and husband Paul Hesser of Roundrock, TX; brother-in-law, Gordon Allen Jr. of Robert, LA; niece and nephews: Heather Morrough of Leander, TX, John Wood, Jr. of Bastrop, TX, Victor P. Erwin of Baton Rouge, Keith Erwin of Missoula, MT and his Goddaughter, Elizabeth Montalbano of Zachary, LA. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 9 at 10:30 AM at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg with Reverend Dr. Francis Norton officiating. Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions in remembrance of Don may be made to the Shippensburg University Men's Basketball Team care of Coach Dave Springer/ SU Foundation, 1871 Old Main Drive, Shippensburg University, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
