Donald L. Elder

Donald L. Elder, age 80 of Shippensburg, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Forest Park Nursing Home in Carlisle. He was born Saturday, May 1, 1937 in Lewistown, the son of the late Harry and Ethel (Shoemaker) Elder. He was employed and retired from AMP Inc. as a supervisor. He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching westerns. He was a huge fan of the Oakland Raiders. His world revolved around his grandchildren and loved spending as much time with them as he could. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Gayle L. Myers-Elder, his step-son, Heath H. Myers, grandchildren, Quincey Myers, Andrew Elder and Olivia Elder, siblings, Cindy Lauver, Larry Hosler and Denny Hosler and step-brother, Donnie Paul Bailey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Elder, brother, Harry Elder and sisters, Eileen Heller and Phronsie Elder. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg with Pastor Rodney Gatling officiating. A viewing will be held from 1:00 PM until time of services.
