Donald P. Hollabaugh, 83, of Biglerville passed away peacefully at Transitions HealthCare in Gettysburg on Monday, April 18, 2016 with his oldest son at his side. Born May 10, 1932, Donald was the son of the late J. P. and Beulah Hollabaugh of Biglerville. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years, Joan C. Hollabaugh, in February, 2012. Donald is survived by his twin brother, Harold Hollabaugh, his sister Mary Kuntz; three sons: Steven D. Hollabaugh and wife, Vicky, Neil A. Hollabaugh and wife, Georgia; Brad M. Hollabaugh and wife, Kay; and daughter, Erin Cipriani (Hollabaugh). Also surviving are his grandson, Bruce A. Hollabaugh, his wife, Amanda, and three great grandchildren, Gabriel, Evangeline, and Fineas; granddaughter, Ellen H. Vranich (Hollabaugh), her husband, Erik, and two great grandchildren, Cooper and Claire; grandson Andrew S. Hollabaugh, his wife, Katie, and great grandson, Nathan; granddaughter Anya Conner (Hollabaugh), her husband, Shain, and great grandson, Christian; grandson, Wayne A. Hollabaugh, his wife Rachael; grandson Rory Cipriani; grandson Brandt Cipriani and great grandson Ty; and grandson Carl Ardabell. Donald was a graduate of Biglerville High School. He was engaged in working in Agriculture his entire life. During his school years, he was first employed by Warren Enck, a local, Biglerville farmer. Later, he worked for Raffensberger Brothers, also near Biglerville. After graduation, he worked for fruit grower and farmer, George Shriver in Bendersville. In 1955 Donald and his twin brother, Harold, bought the Lloyd Garretson farm and a portion of the Wilmer Bream farm near Biglerville and started the Hollabaugh Brothers partnership. He worked his entire life as a grower and marketer in the fruit business which evolved into a family farm cooperation, Hollabaugh Bros, Inc. Fruit Farm Market, still owned and managed by the family.A career-long member of the Adams County Fruit Growers Association, Donald received the organization's Outstanding Fruit Grower Award in 2001 together with his twin brother and business partner, Harold. Donald was also a member of the State Horticultural Association of PA and enjoyed attending the annual Mid-Atlantic Fruit Vegetable Conference in Hershey. As a nearly life-long member of Bendersville Lutheran Church, he was also a faithful member of the church choir. His love of singing extended too many other venues during his life. He was a founding member of the Gettysburg Civic Chorus and a long-time member of the Messiah College Choral Arts Society. In addition to singing, he loved to fish and enjoyed not only the quietude of local farm ponds and the Susquehanna River, but also the adventure of fishing expeditions to Alaska and the Arctic Circle. He was an avid deer hunter, particularly in the local woods of Yellow Hill and enjoyed bowling in his later years on the Hollabaugh Bowling Team. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 S. Main Street, Bendersville. Memorial service will be held at Bendersville Lutheran Church, 126 Church Street, Bendersvilleon Sunday, April 24, 2016 at 3:00 PM with Pastor B. Wesley Smith III officiating. Burial will be in the Biglerville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until services. The family requests that contributions in memory of Donald be made to Bendersville Lutheran Church, PO Box 449, Bendersville, PA 17306 or to the Endowment Fund of the State Horticultural Association of PA, c/o Maureen Irvin, 480 Mountain Road, Orrtanna, PA 17353.
