Donald E. Leister

Donald E. Leister, age 83, passed away on May 20, 2020 at ManorCare Nursing and Rehab in Chambersburg, PA. On behalf of his family, it is with great sadness to announce his death. Donald was born July 8, 1936 in Juniata County, Kellerville, PA. He was the son of the late Edgar C. and Mary E. (Swartz) Leister. Donald was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Mae Gustafson of Greencastle, PA and Thelma Jean Alexander of Shady Grove, PA. Donald is survived by his brother, Clarence E. Leister of Greencastle, PA; sister, Eunice C. Sellers of Redlands, CA; and numerous cherished nephews and nieces. Donald graduated from Shenandoah Valley Academy in New Market, Virginia in 1954. After his graduation, he and a fellow classmate traveled to the Midwest to work for the summer following the various wheat harvests and learning about real life and accumulating a lifetime of memories. Donald served in the U.S. Army in Germany from March of 1958 to March of 1960. He was a born comedian who could always make you laugh. He was known for his generous spirit by his willingness to help others. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
