Donald M. Redding

Donald M. "Mike" Redding, age 83 of Fayetteville (formerly of Aspers), entered into God's eternal care, Wednesday February 1, 2012 at his residence. Married February 18, 1950, he was the husband of Edna Lucille (Emlet) Redding for 61 years. Born July 23, 1928 in Littlestown, he was the son of the late Benjamin F. and Mary E. (Mickley) Redding. Mike was retired from PennDot after 20 years of service and previously worked for C.H. Musselman Company for 17 years. He attended Delone Catholic High School and was a member of Saint Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Buchanan Valley. He also belonged to the Biglerville American Legion Ira E. Lady Post 262. Mike was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Navy. His interests over the years included farming, camping, hunting, fishing, and trapping. In addition to his wife, surviving are six children: Michael Redding and wife Barbara of Gardners, Roxanne Dennis and husband Richard of Fayetteville, David Redding and wife Michele of Biglerville, Mark Redding of Aspers and fianc� Janet Shaffer of York, Joseph Redding and wife Betty of Emmitsburg, MD, and Teresa Quigley and husband Daniel of Aspers; 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Joseph H. Redding of Littlestown. He was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Nancy Redding, and six siblings: Francis Redding, Thomas Redding, Edgar Redding, Anna O'Toole, Louise Coleman, and Mary Rita Redding. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, February 8 at Saint Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church, 1095 Church Road, Orrtanna, with the Reverend Joseph C. Carolin officiating. Burial will follow in Saint Ignatius Cemetery, Buchanan Valley, with the Reverend Daniel P. O'Brien performing the committal service. The Adams County Allied Veterans will provide military honors. Friends and relatives will be received Tuesday, February 7, from 6 to 8PM at Dugan Funeral Home, 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. On Wednesday morning, at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Parish, rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM followed by a viewing from 10 until 10:45 AM at the church. Serving as pallbearers will be Kelly Dennis, Angie Redding, Brian Redding, Erik Quigley, Jason Redding, Zachary Redding, Chris Dennis and Joshua Dennis. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 384 Floral Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201 or St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church, 1095 Church Road, Orrtanna, PA 17353.
