Donald B. Malm

November 12, 1933 — June 27, 2020

Donald Burnell Malm, affectionately referred to as “The Duck”, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2020 after battling a long illness at Cross Keys Village Brethren Home Community in New Oxford, PA. Don was born on November 12, 1933 and raised in Erie, Pennsylvania. After graduation from Academy High, he went to Northwestern University in Chicago where he majored in advertising. Subsequently, he held executive positions with two advertising agencies in New York. While in New York, he met and married Janice Hellen Driscoll in June of 1964. Don and Jan moved to California in 1969, where he worked in sales management positions with Plus Products and El Molino Mills in the health food industry. Don was very creative and he retired early. Don and Jan moved to San Clemente, California where Don created and marketed golf themed products under the Lucky Duck logo. He also started a golf themed greeting card company called Chip Shot Cards with sales throughout the United States and Europe. His genius mind helped the trade show industry with his last creation under his “Exhibits Direct Marketing” platform to help with his unique light weight designs that could display any trade show companies merchandise and logos without complicated table setups. Don enjoyed his love of ducks, walking around his patio while enjoying his afternoon Manhattan and a long game of Yahtzee with whomever would play. He is survived by two children, Barbara J. (Malm) Papilllo of Gettysburg and Dion J. Malm of California; brother, Duane S. Malm of Newtown Square, PA, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Don is preceded in death by his wife, Janice Hellen (Driscoll) Malm and sister, Maryland First. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Memorial Services are at the discretion of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to in Don’s memory to Cross Keys Village, Brethren Home (RE: South Mountain Floor), 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, PA 17350.
