Donald R. Snyder

Donald R Snyder, age 78 of New Oxford, died Friday, July 19, 2013 at Hanover Hospital. He was the husband of Joyce M. (Starry) Snyder, for 44 years. Donald was born December 27, 1934 in Gettysburg and was the son of the late Clay R. and Grace E. (Hogue) Snyder. He was a member of the Heidlersburg Church of the United Brethren in Christ, Gettysburg. He served on the Church Board of Directors and on the Finance Committee. He was also a deacon and a Sunday School Superintendent. He was employed in the office of Roadway Express in York for many years. Donald was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Germany for 18 months. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sisters, Carolyn S. Lott of Gardners and Cheryl D. Wells of Gettysburg, as well as a number of nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 23 at 1:00 PM at Heidlersburg Church of the United Brethren in Christ, 2736 Heidlersburg Road, Gettysburg with his pastor, Reverend Craig A. Loewen officiating. Burial will be in the Biglerville Cemetery with military honors being provided by Adams County Allied Veterans. A visitation will be held at Dugan Funeral Home, Bendersville on Monday, July 22 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heidlersburg Church of the United Brethren in Christ, 2736 Heidlersburg Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
