Donald E. Trostel

October 29, 1938 — February 13, 2015

Donald E. Trostel, age 76, a resident of Laurel Run in Fayetteville and formerly of Biglerville, made his journey to be with the Lord Friday, February 13, 2015 at Village of Laurel Run, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Saturday, October 29, 1938 in Gettysburg, the son of the late Richard and Ruth E. (Martz) Trostel. Donald graduated from Biglerville High School in 1956. He owned and operated Mt. View Fruit Farms where he packed fresh fruit and Hillside Orchards both in Biglerville. He had also owned Don's Gun Ammo in Aspers. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arendtsville, where he served several terms on church council, and other church committees. He was a member of Good Samaritan F AM Lodge 336 in Gettysburg for over 50 years, Harrisburg Consistory and Scottish Rite in the Valley of Harrisburg. Don was instrumental in the formation of the DeMolay in Gettysburg. He was a member of the Adams County Fruit Growers Association, PA Fruit Growers, PA Horticultural Association, co-chairman with dear friend Clair Fetters of the 1st Apple Harvest Holiday and a member of Knouse Foods Co-op. He also sat on the PA Red Cherry Marketing Board. He was a long time member of Arendtsville Fire Company, life member of NRA, Buchanan Valley Rod and Gun Club, Upper Adams Fish and Game, Master and member of the former Biglerville Grange. Don was a coach in the Upper Adams Little League with the Arendtsville Cardinals, Pony League White Sox and Girls Softball league for many years. He was an avid hunter belonging to Bobby's Run Hunting Camp in Cameron Company. Fishing was also a favorite hobby. He was a great fan of the Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Phillies, Biglerville Canners and Gettysburg College Field Hockey. Donnie enjoyed following his grandchildren's sporting events and cheering for them. Don was a former director on the Upper Adams School Board having 16 years, where he served as vice president and served on the property and athletic committee. He wasan active meber at the local and district levels of the Boy Scouts of America and one of his favorite past times was watching The Walton's television series. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce R. (Ebbert) Trostel. He is also survived by daughter, Monya T. and husband Tim G. Guise of Biglerville; son, Michael D. and wife Laura J. (Starner) Trostel of Biglerville; four grandchildren, Matthew S. and wife Erin Trostel of Biglerville, Ryan M. Trostel of Biglerville, Justin S. Trostel and fianc� Holli Johnson of Biglerville and Ashleigh A. Guise and fianc� Taylor Groff of Wellsville; one great-grandson, Daegan M. Trostel; one sister Jane L. (Trostel) Waddell of Gettysburg and one brother R. Barry Trostel, of Biglerville. He was preceded in death by his son, Scott E. Trostel who passed in 1978. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 28 at Trinity Lutheran Church, North High Street, Arendtsville with Reverend Ben Siebert andChaplain William Kauffman officiating. Private Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 12:00 noon until time of services. A visitation will also be held following the services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dayton and Blake Biesecker Trust Fund, c/o Adams County National Bank, PO Box 3129, Gettysburg, PA 17325. Dayton and Blake, who have both been diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, are Donnie's, whom they called "Pap", great-nephews.
