Donald W. Bean

Donald W. Bean, age 78 of Bendersville, died Monday, January 14, 2013 at Gettysburg Hospital. He was born Monday, April 30, 1934 in Menallen Township, Adams County, the son of the late Cecil W. and Elda Mae (Gardner) Bean. Donald graduated from Biglerville High School in 1952. After high school he enlisted in the USMC until he received a medical discharge. Donnie was a fruit farmer and tended the Carlisle Farmer's Market for many years. He was formerly employed by Shetters Tire Service in Biglerville for 23 years. Donnie enjoyed playing sports. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Anne (Heltibridle) Bean. He is also survived by two daughters: Carol L. Bean-Ritter and husband Randy Ritter of Morgantown, PA and Denise B. and husband Mark Wilson of Parkton, MD; five grandchildren: Danica Ritter, Darrien Ritter, Ian Ritter, Jaylynn Ritter and Emma Wilson; two brothers: Richard L. Bean of Aspers and Ronald D. Bean of New Oxford. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, January 19 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Bendersville Fire Company, Community Room 144, Park Street, Bendersville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Donnie's name to the charity of one's choice.
