Donald H. Williamson, Sr., age 82, of Chambersburg, previously of Hilton Head Island, SC, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Village of Laurel Run after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was born May 11, 1934 in Wilmington, DE, the son of the late George H. and Mabel (Hall) Williamson. Donald graduated from the University of Delaware where he studied electrical engineering and was president of fraternity Sigma Phi Epsilon. After serving his country in the U.S. Army, he began his career with Thiokol Corporation, Elkton, MD in the Apollo space rocket industry, then RCA, Camden, NJ, and E. I. DuPont De Nemours and Company, Wilmington, DE, from which he retired. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Estelle (Ryon) Williamson, daughters, Myra W. Rice and husband Mark, Chambersburg, Missy Dunaway and husband Danny, Virginia Beach, VA, sons, Donald H. Jr. and wife Katherine, Sacramento, CA, Greg and wife Meg, Wilmington, DE and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sister Betty Stewart and brother George H. Williamson, Jr. Donald was a perpetual jokester who loved restoring cars, sailing, and fixing clocks. With his sweetheart of almost 66 years, he traveled the world and created a foundation for his large family based on love, hard work and laughter. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM and Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg with Reverend Andy Hart officiating.
