Doris Jane Showaker

Doris Jane Showaker, beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on January 3, 1940, in Pennsylvania, Doris was a resident of Gardners, PA, where she found joy in the simple things in life-her beloved cats and dogs, and the quiet serenity of nature. Doris put her heart and soul into her work at Knouse Foods for 47 years, where she thrived in her production role. Her love of family was paramount; she cherished her time spent fishing by the bank and hunting with her family, creating lasting memories that she held dear. In the summertime, Doris could often be found sitting on her porch, enjoying the sights and sounds of the wildlife that surrounded her, a testament to her appreciation for the beauty of the world around her. 

Doris is survived by her children, Gary Showaker, Barbara Slothour, Wanda Davis, Linda Glenn, John Showaker, and Sandra Murray; along with her loving sisters, Sarah Linch, Jacqueline Stambaugh, Rosemary Sprenkle, and Debbie May. She was preceded in death by her parents, William E. Livingston and Mary Katherine (Chamberlain) Livingston; sisters, Shirely Warren, Pauline Showers, Anna May Livingston, and Helen Livingston; and one brother, William E. Livingston. 

Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral & Cremation, Ltd., 111 S. Main Street in Bendersville. A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4200 Carlisle Rd., Gardners, PA 17324. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Goodyear Cemetery.
