Dorothy Mae Bosak

March 17, 1930 — December 31, 2024

Dorothy Mae Bosak, age 94 of Bendersville, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at SpiriTrust Lutheran Gettysburg. She was born Monday, March 17, 1930 in Bendersville to the late Merle Edward and Mildred Myrtle (Warner) Black. She was the widow of Joseph L. Bosak, who passed away in 2016.


Dorothy graduated from Biglerville High School in 1948 and worked in the Ships Parts Control Center at the Naval Supply Depot in Mechanicsburg until her retirement in 1988. She enjoyed going to sports activities, graduations and recitals of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and traveling to exciting places with her children’s families to Florida, the West Coast and even a trip to Europe. She also enjoyed working outside in her garden, planting flowers, collecting antiques, beany babies and miniature tea sets. Dorothy loved going to the Elkhorn Restaurant with family to eat breakfast and talk to the people.


She is survived by her children, Catherine A. Yeck and husband, Joseph of Gettysburg; Teresa S. Earley and husband, Skip of Carlisle and Joseph L. Jr. of Biglerville; grandchildren, Kristen, Jennifer, Joseph, Laura, Gilbert and Susanna and great-grandchildren, Raina, Laila, Kamran, Madelyn, Evelyn, Wyatt, Blake and Brooke. Dorothy was preceded in death by her brothers, Merl and Paul Black. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at SpiriTrust Lutheran Gettysburg for the kind care that they gave to Dorothy.


Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 S. Main Street, Bendersville, where Funeral Services will be held at 11:30am on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. A Viewing will be held from 10:00am until time of funeral services. Reverend Susan Scott will officiate the funeral. Dorothy will be laid to rest beside her husband at Bendersville Cemetery.
