Dorothy C. Thompson

Dorothy C. Thompson, age 92, died Monday, June 24, 2013 at her Biglerville home. She was born Monday, April 18, 1921 in Montgomery County, Maryland, the daughter of the late Melvin E. and Bessie (Hammann) Carter. Dorothy graduated from Montgomery Co. High School. She was formerly employed by the federal government Department of Health Education and Welfare as a budget analyst. She also assisted in writing the EPA Appropriation Act in 1971. She worked for the federal government a total of 31 years.She was a member of Wenksville United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Charles R. Thompson, in 2001 and her son Raymond C. Thompson, who died in 2013. She is survived by granddaughter, Carli R.T. Shultz and husband Lance of Gettysburg and great-grandson, Shayde Carter Shultz. Two brothers, Raymond C. and Carroll H. Carter preceded her in death. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville.Interment will be private in Forest Oak Cemetery, Gaithersburg, Maryland.
