Dorothy Goldman Preisler, age 86 of Shippensburg, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, August 27, 2015. She was born on Thursday, August 1, 1929 in Lower Silesia Province, Germany, the daughter of the late Henry Goldman Hedy (Kastner) Goldman. Dorothy was a Holocaust Survivor and a survivor in every sense of the world. She came to the USA in 1951 with her parents, and brother, all Holocaust Survivors, and settled in Detroit, Michigan where her father had relatives. She was married to Hans J. Preisler, also a Holocaust Survivor, at Temple Israel in Detroit in 1956. Her friends and family knew her as a charming, loving woman with a keen wit and a deep interest in medical knowledge. She was a talented interior designer and artist, often expressing her experiences and reflections of the Holocaust in sculpture and thevisual arts. Dorothy was a Life-Member of Hadassah, a volunteer Jewish women's organization; she was a member of SHAPE (Shippensburg Arts Programming Education) and had some of her sculptures and jewelry on exhibit at their gallery. Survived by her husband of 59 years, Hans J. Preisler; a son Julian H; son-in-law Richard W. Clark; step-granddaughters Charissa Clark Howe Sarah Clark Hendess; 4 step-great-grandchildren; several cousins, nieces, nephews and great-nieces great-nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her brother Robert G. Goldman in 2007. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg. Burial arrangements will be private at the discretion of the family.
